What is a Slope Disaster?

A slope disaster refers to the collapse of a slope and the outflow of soil caused by natural phenomena such as earthquakes and heavy rainfall.
As a result, the living environment and infrastructure of residents can suffer severe damage. Particularly in developing countries, slope disasters occur frequently due to geological conditions and a lack of disaster prevention technology, and the impact of such disasters can be significant.
Our company has provided technical support to mitigate the risk of many slope disasters and has contributed to the creation of safer communities through collaboration with local engineers.
Before a slope disaster occurs, several warning signs can often be observed. Recognizing these signs early can help prevent disasters from happening.
Below are some examples of typical warning signs of a slope disaster.
Cliff Collapse

・New cracks appear on the slope
・Small stones or soil fall intermittently
・Vegetation on the top of the cliff tilts
・The surface of the cliff suddenly becomes wet
・The soil bulges abnormally
Debris Flow

・A loud rumbling sound comes from the mountains
・The river water suddenly becomes muddy
・The water level in the river drops rapidly
・Unusually heavy rain persists
・Dust-like soil rises from the mountainside like smoke
Landslide

・Cracks appear in the ground
・The ground shows undulating deformations
・The ground gradually sinks/rises
・Water gushes out from the slope
・Trees on the upper part of the slope tilt
